This is start of a new journey online to share my love of this sport and hopefully help those wanting to know more about this sport from overseas. There is also the intention to show some tourists to Melbourne or new residence an actual real game in person as their personal guide at a live game during the season. In time as the season draws closer I will highlight the games I’ll make myself available as a personal guide.

The season runs from late March to the Grand Final on last Saturday in September.

In February and most of March is the build up to the season proper and teams start playing practice games as our Australian summer season is coming to an end.

This is my first blog and just to say hi. The team I support in AFL is Carlton and I will not make any attempts to suppress my bias for my team in this blog, that is part of the fun of the game The main purpose of this blog will be about adding awareness of aussie rules football in general as a sport to our global village. It is my way of spreading the word of my favourite sport in our global village online. The game was invented in the parklands of Melbourne in the 1850′s and has been going for as long as some of the more well known codes of football in other continents around the world

As the season starts soon, contests , run by newspapers and the AFL are starting up online for followers of game. As a newcomer you can freely join and may even win prizes if you are astute fantasy football coach and eligible depending on where you live.

Fantasy leagues start at same time as real season of AFL which is last week of March this year.

By the way, AFL stands for Australian Football League.
